A substantial modernist extension and renovation, currently in construction on a 1950’s bungalow in the sought after Augusta Road area of Penarth. Taking cues from the existing black cedar shingles that adorned the bungalow’s gables and the midcentury style, this bold redesign completely reimagines the house, incorporating a central courtyard, modernist post and beam rear extension and steel framed first floor addition. The house will be significantly upgraded thermally, with triple glazing throughout, air source heat pump and new HVAC system with heat recovery and air conditioning. The exterior will be clad with charred larch shingles and corrugated steel roof with exposed brick spine walls, timber panelling and polished concrete internally.
